Expedition ANT-XXV/2

On 5 December 2008, the research vessel Polarstern will depart Cape Town to conduct the Antarctic Expedition ANT-XXV/2. On direct route to Neumayer Station, Antarctica, several research projects will commence shortly after departure from Cape Town and continue for the entire expedition to and from Neumayer Station.

Teacher participation in the expedition

Gaining insights into the global climate system is not the only objective of the International Polar Year. Involving the public, specifically the young generation, in ongoing research and provision of extensive information are central goals. For this reason, a teacher will also be aboard Polarstern. Helmke Schulze from Berlin will be actively involved in the expedition research, allowing her not only to refresh her knowledge about current climate research, but also to communicate their insights via internet to her students.
